Yesterday, the District Court of Johnson County, Kansas revised its order regarding the handling of landlord/tenant cases. The court  is doubling up the dockets to move things along after May 1. There will be a Tuesday docket  in addition to the normal Thursday 10:30 a.m. docket.

All cases that are set on Thursdays during the period from now to May 1 are being continued to a Tuesday. Anything now set on a Friday is being continued to a Wednesday. New cases that would normally be set AFTER MAY 1 will be set on the usual day.  Here is the order:

ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER ON ALL CHAPTER 61 LIMITED ACTION CASES
This Order is being issued in response to the recent outbreak of
Coronavirus Disease
2019   (COVID-19)   in   Johnson   County   Kansas,   and   Johnson   County   limiting   public
gatherings   to   less   than   10   people.   Given   the   significant   number   of   identified   and
projected cases of COVID-19 and the severity of risk posed to the public, and given the
recommendations   from   local   public   health   authorities,   it   is   hereby   ORDERED   that,
effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020:
All hearings for Chapter 61 Limited Action cases will need to be continued to reduce the
traffic coming into the courthouse through May 1, 2020. Changes to the Chapter 61
cases currently set in Chapter 61 Court (Division M4, room 222) shall be as follows:
1) 
All trials set on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from now through June 30,
2020 shall be continued by the Court. Attorneys should contact the Chapter 61
