Senate Bill, SB 477, was introduced, which would prohibit bench warrants on medical debt.
it is before the Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs with no hearing set at the moment. If you have medical clients for whom collection efforts could lead to bench warrant if a debtor failed to comply with a court order, they may want to know about this - especially if they are part of a larger medical association with a lobbying presence at the capital.
These are the Committee members:
Chair Sen. Bud Estes (Dodge City, [email protected])
Vice Chair Sen. Robert Olson (Olathe, [email protected])
Ranking Minority Member Sen. Oletha Faust-Goudeau (Wichita, [email protected])
